The District of Columbia and United States Territories Quarter Program was a one-year initiative. Under this program, the reverse design of the quarter-dollar changed six times in 2009. This program immediately followed the 50 State Quarters® Program, which ended in 2008. The quarter-dollars were released in the following order:

The District of Columbia, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, The United States Virgin Islands, The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
