Barber Coins, so named because they were designed by engraver Charles Barber, were minted in the U.S. between 1892 and 1916 and included silver coins used at the time – dimes, quarters and silver half dollars. Barber Half Dollar coins depict the head of "Liberty" on the obverse (front) side and the American (Heraldic) Eagle on the reverse, an image based on the Great Seal of the United States.
If you're looking for high quality, rare half dollars, look at something like an EF-40 rated 1892 year coin that goes for just under $300. You don't have to go for the rare half dollar coins to amass a nice collection though. All the Barber half-dollars for sale here on the site deserve to be a part of a fine collection.
