2005-P Kansas State Quarter

$1.29
The 2005-P Kansas State Quarter from the Philadelphia mint facility. Each coin is in brilliant uncirculated condition. Kansas marks the 34th coin to be issued in the program and features a buffalo and sunflower motif, emblematic of the State's history and natural beauty.

What's a 2005 Kansas state quarter worth?

A circulated 2005-P Kansas quarter is worth face value — 25 cents. Uncirculated coins are inexpensive: most Mint State examples retail for under $7, with MS67 coins at $10–$50. The Philadelphia strikes are best known for two errors. The "In God We Rust" coins came from a grease-filled die that clogged the T in TRUST, and the "humpback bison" shows a raised lump on the bison's back. Neither is a catalogued variety with standard price-guide listings, but bold examples sell at a real premium over face — the stronger and cleaner the error, the more it brings.

To check yours, start with the obverse: the mint mark sits just right of Washington's ponytail ("P" here), and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is in the left field — look for a weak or missing T. Then inspect the bison's back on the reverse for the hump. An "S" coin is a proof, and 90% silver 2005-S proofs exist.

Philadelphia struck 263,400,000 Kansas quarters. One note: some listings mislabel this coin's date — the Kansas quarter was struck only in 2005. The reverse, by Norman E. Nemeth, pairs a bison with sunflowers for the 34th state. Every coin we sell is inspected and graded before shipping.
